Sinopse: 42 conta a história de dois homens - o grande Jackie Robinson e o lendário Branch Rickey, do Brooklyn Dodgers - cuja valente posição contra o preconceito mudou para sempre o mundo, começando pelos jogos de beisebol. Em 1946, Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford) se posicionou à frente da história quando colocou Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) na equipe, quebrando a linha racial da Liga Principal de Beisebol. Mas isso também colocou Robinson e Rickey na linha de fogo do público, da imprensa e, até mesmo, dos outros jogadores. Enfrentando o racismo desmedido de todos os lados, Robinson foi forçado a demonstrar tremenda coragem e autocontrole ao não reagir da mesma forma, sabendo que qualquer incidente poderia destruir suas esperanças e as de Rickey. Em vez disso, o número 42 deixou o seu talento no campo falar por si, e acabou conquistando os fãs e seus companheiros de equipe, silenciando os críticos e abrindo o caminho para que outros seguissem.
